Hey folks. Today wasn't a bad day. I'll start by backing up a bit. Sundays with 5e did not happen because I had a hard drive die on me Friday evening and I spent the weekend getting my PC back up and running. It's not up to 100% but it's getting there. Still have a few things to install such as Office and Adobe PDF but otherwise, it's good to go.
So no Sundays with 5e, which I have decided will be a quick story telling of what the party did and depending on the audio recording, maybe some comments. Then Monday I haven't decided how to handle yet. I was thinking maybe something like Hearthstone or a break for the day. In other news: You guys know I have a facebook group (well most of you do) for this site known as Fantasy Word Press. If you don't then check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1623887351201020/?ref=bookmarks Well, given the title of this particular blog, I should go ahead and say that I have formed another group that myself and some friends are a part of for the intent of advertising. If you want, come visit Shadow Squadron here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/127210327682470/?ref=bookmarks It is my intent to use both sites to advertise for Fantasy Flight's Miniature Game Star Wars: X-Wing. There are a total of 8 waves out at the current moment and Wave 9 has been revealed somewhat but I do not believe a release date has been set. The game is a tactical table top strategy game themed around Star Wars and you "fly" miniatures around the board in dog fights, jousting, or on missions. It all depends on the people you play and their moods. I haven't been in to it for long but I am a huge Star Wars nut and I have only bought about half of the available minis that are out there but with intent to buy more. The community for this game is so incredibly laid back and my friends are as well. Right now we have a solid group with three of us but we have had people come by and ask us about it and the last few weeks we've made it up to as many as six or seven coming out. My hope to increase that number and develop Shadow Squadron in to a tournament force to be reckoned with but mostly I want to have fun and get more people involved. That said, tonight's game for myself (and my opponent and fast becoming good friend Brandon) was a draw. We've play three times that I can recall for sure. He won one, I won one but I don't count it as a real win because I eff'd how Twin Laser Turrets work. Then there was tonight. He was flying an interesting list, a variant I think, of Palpatine's aces. I was the space cow (Lambda Shuttle), Vader in a tie advanced, Wampa (Tie Fighter) and a FO Tie, Omega Ace I believe. This was a solid list. I don't recall all the upgrades but it as still a solid list. My list was, as I called it in the title, Miranda's B Class. This is a hefty tanky list with Miranda Doni in a K-wing with Shield Upgrade and a TLT (Twin Laser Turret) while both B wings in this list were Dagger Squadron Pilots with Stealth Device and Ion Cannons. This is one of a few lists I've ran. I haven't found a list I like enough to keep and tinker with but I think this list will make the final cut for one of my favorites. I just need to learn to fly it better. Because the game was a draw, I can't say much beyond that it was a good game. We both made a couple of mistakes and I hope we play again next week. I invite any of you guys to come out (if you are local it's easy to find) whether or not you happen to be in Johnson City for a little bit or you live here. The address is below. We meet every Tuesday at 7pm and run til 9pm. Note, though, we try to finish our games by 8:40 as the store closes at 9 and we try not to be dicks. The location is: G2K Games Johnson City – Johnson City Plaza Shopping Center 2116 N Roan St – Suite 7 Johnson City, TN 37601 423-915-1000 |
