Ok, so I'd like to start by giving a shout out to two of our visitors tonight. Haley (I really hope I spelled that right) and Justin. Justin is a repeat guest but be that I just started plugging out Tuesday nights here, I thought I'd give him a shout out. We have a couple of other fellas that come by, one of them showed tonight but I can't remember his (their) names. I can say they both deserve respect as former Military Service members though. Anyway, onward to the game night.
First, we meet, every Tuesday at:
Johnson City – Johnson City Plaza Shopping Center
2116 N Roan St – Suite 7
Johnson City, TN 37601
Please come by and join us. It's all about playing some X-Wing and having fun but we also are working on building Shadow Squadron in to league material. And check out our Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/127210327682470/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel. I'll be posting a pic of my game table from tonight. Got so busy I didn't get to get any other pics but I'll get better as we move along.
One of our guys, Brandon, had to be late tonight so he didn't get to play. He is the one responsible for our Tuesday nights thought because he talked to G2K about it and that got us started on a regular night of the week. Our match ups tonight were James versus Justin's oldest son. James was running a version, I believe, of Palpatine's Aces versus a Firespray list that is designed around bombs. Our second match-up was Justin and his youngest son. I didn't get a chance to find out what they were running but I heard that one of them ran another version of Palpatine's Aces. Then our last match-up was myself versus the wonderful Haley. It was her first time and it was a delight to lose to her. She was playing a Falcon Chewie list with an A-Wing and Wedge X-wing versus my Wedge's Y-Wings. Even if i could remember the specifics of the lists, I would not post them without consent because that's just rude to give away someone else's secrets or ideas without their permission. However, I lost and I love to share my ideas. I hope that soon, you guys will brave the comments field to discuss your own ideas or offer your criticisms, ideas, or changes to my lists. Tonight, I ran Wedge with Stealth Device and R2-F2 which gave him an average of 4 dodge dice. The idea being that it would live long enough to be useful. And he was the only thing that lived. My Y-wings were generic Gray squadron pilots with Ion Cannon Turrets, Extra Munitions, and Ion Torpedos. All in all, the list I do not think was horrible but you can't fight dice. I couldn't roll a hit or evade to save my ass but once and that was when wedge needed it the most. Wedge didn't list his stealth until the end of the game. Like I said, I lost but I was so proud of the fact that I only tagged an asteroid twice (turn two and turn five the final turn due to time constraints). and that Wedge lived. My opponent, Ms Haley seemed to have fun and was far better up on the rules than I was/am. I haven't had time to sit down and memorize them. But, she ran a good game was a great opponent to play against. We had fun and helped each other when needed and she gave me some leeway when I forgot things like taking my actions. Over all tonight was fun. The second best part of the night was hearing James go "GAH" right after hearing his opponent go, "Three Crtis"....dice like him apparently.
Until next time, have fun and fly casual and I look forward to next week's adventure.
