So let's start with, I know i didn't post like I said I was going to post. It sucks, I hate it, and oh well. I'm not in a great mood so I just don't care right now. What started off as a bit of a pain is now starting to grow in to an ever lasting battle with technology. So before I post the extra long story section that I have prepared, let me tell you what is going on right now.
For those that don't already know, I killed my iPhone 5 Saturday this past weekend. It was totally my fault for going in to the pool with it in my pocket. Granted I was going in after my daughter to ensure she was ok as she is only 4 and hasn't mastered the art of swimming in any form really without a floaty. However, she is farther along now than she was. That is where it started. I was going to use my insurance and replace the phone but my wife and I discussed it, well she pointed out I had an upgrade on my line so... I went on the Verizon website to work this out. Verizon, ladies and gentlemen, is an entire group of stupid moronic lazy SHITHEADS! They can't code a website to save their ass and their CS people (via chat thus far) are complete dip shits. (I know, I know, I don't normally curse this much in a blog but I am incredibly frustrated.) So after a grand total of fours on their website, two of those spent with a chat rep who told me "Not my problem call our Customer Service department" I am still sans phone order. They have a deal going on that if you buy and iPhone on their monthly payment plan then you can get an iPad for $300 off but it has to have a 2 year contract. Well, conveniently, I have one of those already so big whoop and I was gonna upgrade my phone anyway, so yay go me. My mom agreed it was a really good deal on an iPad and is helping me pay for it but I have to pay her back. Well getting started was a pain because the website wiped out my cart three times before I finally got pissed and agreed to chat with one of their reps. Where, *GASPS AND SURPRISES* the site empties the cart again. The account is in my MIL's name and this is where it gets really <expletive deleted> stupid. So you have the facts straight: iPhone 5 + water = dead iPhone 5 and needs replacement. On Verizon Website, which keeps eating my order, planning on using CC of Madre to pay for phone and new ipad due to deal going on. Account is in MIL's name. Got it? Good. (Yes feel free to laugh if this strikes you as funny, I can't see you so I won't know) Finally get website to keep my cart with the phone in it. Try to get iPad deal... can't get it to let me add the ipad. Chat with customer service rep is going SOO well at this point.... I follow the steps, which I might add I have already done about 8 times myself, that she gives me. I try to add the iPad and it keeps cycling back to the page with the iPad displayed and not adding it to the cart. Finally, Emily (the CSR) tells me to just call customer service because it isn't her problem. (Don't we love professionalism at it's finest?) So I tell her, and continue forward to so do, that I'll just say screwed it and just buy the phone. (I mean hell they obviously don't care about taking "my" money at this point. I go back to just the phone, get everything squared away and enter the information for Madre's CC card and I get a <expletive deleted> message that says (BASICALLY) OH, no, the CC's billing info doesn't match the account billing info so you no can use CC to buy this stuff. (Never mind this CC was used to pay the bill not even 5 hours ago)... so I say to you WHAT THE FUCK!? Yes, I'm angry so I finally give it up and go to bed and don't sleep cuz my stomach is so angry at this point that I'm up sick all night. NOW, to make matters worse, the next day, I happen upon my old Motorola Droid X and decide to activate it as a substitute until I can replace my phone. I get it out and remember, OH YES, it hates to charge. That's ok it'll do for what i need for now. I go to Verizon's now "functioning" website and activate this old smart phone. They want to send this deactivate phone a text message to give me a code to use to activate the phone on my phone number. (You see where this is going right?, if not read that last sentence and just THINK about it for a minute.) Finally, I manage to get it to send the message to my WIFE's phone and she sends it, via iMessage to my iPOD so I can now activate the droid phone. (This whole process took about two hours in total). I come to find out the droid is basically fucked. It works but it has (as of 11:17PM EST) had to be charged fully up 3 times so far today alone. Now the end of my day... I have a very nice wireless mouse/keyboard set that I paid a fair amount of money for about four years ago. Love this keyboard and mouse. Well it's replacement time as the mouse took a final shit tonight and stopped working. But thankfully I have a backup mouse that works great. This has been a bad few days for me and technology so when I say I don't give a shit... now you know why.
