You heard it here first folks. I have the holiday blues. No, it has nothing to do with Seasonal WTF-Ever Disorder. It has to do with the fact that, for me, this general time of the year blows. I haven't given a damn about Christmas (or Turkey Day for that matter) in many years. It isn't because I had horrible holidays as a kid or anything like that. This has more to do with the fact that I have what's called Flint Luck. If you wanna know more about Flint Luck, stick around and you'll hear about it as I'm sure I will eventually post a blog about Flint Luck.
Last year, my father passed a week before my 36th Birthday. That made last year pretty much suck all season long. This year, I am working towards a divorce. That, coupled with some other events in my holiday past, has pretty much made it so that I could give two shits about "the holiday season." BUT, I can't just say EF THE SEASON or pull a Grumpy Cat and just ignore the time of year. Why? Well, I have a little girl who, for whatever reason, still thinks I hung the moon and I will go out of my way this year and next and the next and the next and so on to make sure she has the best holidays I can give her. Yes, she is the light of my life and yes, she is my world. Yes, I love her more than I do anyone or anything else in existence. No, that doesn't mean that it makes my feelings about the holiday season go up any. That being said, I would like to take a minute and wish all of you who have come by to read my posts (comments or no) and continue to come back when I post on an erratic schedule, Happy Merry Hannukwanza. I hope your holidays are full of joy and cheer and fun and drunken family fights and all those good times that you can look back on and wish you'd had a camera to capture those fun moments. Tis the season to be all merry and nice. So... go make nice and stuff because that's the point, isn't it? |
