This is where it happens. Every Tuesday, from 7pm to 9pm. (Well technically to 8:40pm because we try to get started on clean up by then so the clerks can get their closing work done and go home at end of shift. Tonight was no exception. We had a pretty good group tonight. I only got one picture which will be uploaded to the Shadow Squadron page, probably tomorrow some time. Justin and his boys and Haley showed up. Brandon was a tad late but he showed up. Reuben was there. And a couple of sort of new comers. One from a different play group over at Hobby Town, Billy Hensley. Also we had one from Tri Cities Syndicate show up, Eric Maynard. There were a couple of others there tonight as well but I didn't get a chance to talk to them because I was trying to get my crap together, as I arrived late. I am glad they came out though because it was nice to see that X-wing expanded a bit tonight. That means more growth in the future.
Now, the really cool thing was I posted that James and I were going to be practicing for the tourney with 70 point lists. Justin showed up with his group with 70 point lists ready to go as well. I found out later at least one of them is planning to attend the tourney, his oldest I believe and (sadly) whose name escapes me because I am horrible with names.
He flew a three interceptor list and it was his first time with interceptors. I have to say, as someone who has only flown them once and that was a sorta solo game I was trying to do to figure out how they fly and what is best to do when, he did a great job his first time out with them. I hope that if he sticks with the list it works out. We got two games in and he won the first one by utterly destroying my A wing, Gemmer Sojan and almost taking out a Z-95. I won the second game with the best roll of dice in my life for a 5 dice prockets. 4 hits and a single crit. I was so happy. It was the only destruction of the game but it was enough to allow me to gain the victory. Oddly, I think I have found an idea of a list I truly like and will continue to tinker with in the future to see how I can modify it. It was an amazing set of games and I am proud of my opponent for his tenacity and he has great sportsmanship.
In closing for tonight, my list is Gemmer's Talans, I have dubbed this list. It is as follows:
Gemmer Sojan with Prockets, A-Wing Test Pilot, Shield Upgrade, and Marksmanship.
Both Z-95s were loaded with Prockets and a stealth device.
The idea behind the list was to maximize my dice with Prockets by gaining agility. It worked well for me but it was just one set of games. I need to test and maybe tweak the list a bit.
See you guys soon for our next game set.
